Delta contractor saw blade guard and splitter

Hi,
I apologize in advance if this question has been asked(probably has), but the search for me turned up nothing. I just purchased a used Delta Contractor Saw off the craigslist(model 34-441 with a unifence). This is a huge step up for me from a basic craftsman benchtop saw. Just the much lower noise level alone makes much more comfortable using the saw.
Unfortunately, the saw didn't come with a blade guard or a splitter. Not sure if the previous owner took it off or if it came like that originally. Anyway, it sounds like a blade guard and a splitter are very important, so I would like to get one - either the original one or aftermarket.

I searched for original one and couldn't really find much. Nothing on ebay and all the parts websites list it as discontinued. I'm not sure if some newer delta part will fit my saw?

Or should I got with some aftermarket system? A shark unit turned up in my searches and while it seems nice, $170 is pretty steep as I really dont use the table saw all that often. Is there any other guard and splitter in the under $50 range that I should consider?

Thank you for your response.

At the very least, I'd add something like a Microjig splitter starting at just > $20 and go up to ~ $40. You won't find an aftermarket guard for $50 unless you run into a used one. It's possible to build one….Google is your friend.

Get the saw aligned, and buy a decent blade for it. Enjoy!

I'm in the same boat. I basically gave up looking. I'm not about to spend $150 on that. You're not going to be any safer with safety equipment unless you add common sense and forethought into the equation. So that's what I'm doing for the time being until I can scavenge a riving knife or something else for free that may be suitable as a splitter for my delta contractor saw.

The blade guard is excessively annoying so most people threw them out, just don't stick your fingers in the blade and you'll be fine. The splitter is easy, anything stiff, thinner than your blade will work. I used rigid plastic for awhile and that worked just fine.
