agree with a1, butt joints and a kreg pocket hole.. cedar is softer then pine.. use primer then paint.. i use black tar to seal the interior of flower boxes.. if you can find cypress it works as well..i would use gorillia glue because of the use and oil content of cedar..

here in sc red cedar is free if you want to stop and pick it up.. old trees lay down in bad wind and get used for fence post
