I saw this at a local Antique Mall and kind of fell in love with it. The asking price is exorbitant, IMHO, but it really is pretty awesome and some day, I hope to build something similar. The first pic is kind of dark and doesn't really do it justice, but it's octagonal and spins, lazy susan style.
Interesting perspective, Jacquelyn. I always undervalue my time. (In fact, I never factor it in at all.) I definitely would not engrave the drawer fronts. Much more functional, I think, to use those little metal frames where you just write on a card (or print them on a computer to make them look nice) and insert it into the metal frame. Granted, that would detract from the vintage look, but that's not the main appeal (it's the functionality) to me anyway.
An unusual and nice design really nice. The drawers are quite basic in construction without dovetails etc as I see it it is just but jointed for quick production. Therefore I would think that I t does not look American or Western in design what do you think? Alistair
Wife's sister has one she bought out of an old hardware store that was in business here for years. I remember my dad buying items out of it when I was a kid. No idea what she paid for it.
Just noticed that one is sitting in a chair or something. Her's is a bigger floor model.
