In the current issue of WoodShop News, there is an article about a fund set up to aid wounded veterans.

sorry if this has been posted before, I am familiar with the phrase "Wounded Veterans" and I may have read it here.

The text below is as it appears in the online edition, I hope I won't get in trouble for pasting this as it appears:

Fund created to help wounded veterans

Laguna Tools says it will donate $25,000 in product to a fund that will benefit wounded veterans.

The company will make the donation through the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers, which will assist in vetting and corroborating veterans who will benefit from the donation.

"[Laguna president] Torben [Helshoj] and I deeply believe that we have a moral obligation to support the people who have fought for this country," Laguna vice president Catherine Helshoj said in a statement. "We hope our donation to this worthy cause will encourage the woodworking industry to join us in establishing a formal support program for our veterans."

In order to qualify, applicants must have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force or National Guard. Both active duty and reserve organizations qualify. Applicants must have had a service related injury or disability incurred or aggravated during active military service; an honorable or medical discharge on a DD214 form; and a letter of recommendation from a commanding officer or reporting senior officer, Wounded Warriors representative or Veteran Affairs director.

For information, visit www.lagunatools.com.

I know of wounded veterans who might be interested in this; Arlin Eastman comes to mind and I know there are more.

Hope this may be of interest to a few out there!

Laguna Tools has been instrumental in outfitting would/disabled veterans. They have generously donated power tools and equipment to several returning veterans including Mark Wilson. You can read about Laguna and their support here.

I would love to get my hands on their equipment, despite the negative press I have read I personally have spoken with Catherine Helshoj, and the company is truly genuine about supporting our freedom defenders. I wish all Companies (Grizzly, Jet, Festool, etc), would adopt a program like this to help put our veterans in a place of comfort and productivity. For more resources for Wounded Warriors, please feel free to visit my site (on my profile). Good luck to all those Wounded Vets applying! I Know I am!
