Transporting lumber

I have about 200 bdft of black walnut and some oak lumber that I want to take with me when I move. It has to fit in the trailer with all my other household belongings and I am wondering how best to transport it. Do I stack it all on top of itself or lay it all done like a floor. It is all rough cut so I'm not worried about a little scratching but I don't want it to warp and turn good lumber into good firewood. It will be transported from MD to WA over the course of 7-10 days.

As above: stack, bind, anchor to trailer. Don't cover important things that might come in handy. Like spare tire.
Most important though is to keep it absolutely dry.
Wisconsin and Northern IL.
Good Luck, On Wisconsin. Steve

I just drive my lumber around

Walnut should NEVER be moved in an east-west direction, only north-south, while oak can be moved in any direction you wish. I'll be down in a few days. As I live in NH, the walnut should suffer little, if any, during the return trip. (Do not ask or tell anybody else about this, as they will never again have any respect for you as a "woodworker", since you apparently don't know the first thing about wood!) Best of luck to you and the oak on your voyage.
