Posted on Drawer bottoms: plywood or hardboard?

Either works just fine for smaller drawers but a good grade of finished plywood generally looks better in my opinion. Both are stable but plywood would be the stronger of the two and should definitely be the choice for larger drawers. If you are a purist sticking to the old ways of making furniture, solid wood is the preferred choice. In any case, never glue the drawer bottom to the drawer carcass or very bad things happen!!!!!
