Scott,
I have 3 raised panel and 3 different profile style and rail sets from Freud, 4 different lengths of pattern bits, Freud, and 5 round overs from Freud, the largest round over is 1 1/2” radius, 10 years ago it was $138.00 +tax. I used it on 64 ft. of 3” glue laminated Red Oak and it was still sharp enough to slice my thumb open when I took it out of the table mounted router.
Freud bits will take 3-4 sharpenings over your lifetime and still have plenty of carbide left.
If I only want to buy a bit once I buy Freud and yes you can by good bits for less but I trust these bits to do it right each time I chuck one. They are an investment.
