Modern Saw blade Sharpening System?

I was not sure where to put this so I stuck it in here. Long story short I was looking for a place here locally to get my table saw blades sharpened. To my surprise there is "No One" in my area that sharpens anymore. I broke down and started calling cabinet shops and found the closest place to me is an hour and a half away (at least that is where a lot of the local shops are using). I just thought that was just crazy…

After getting off the phone with all these places I started thinking about my Father In-law taking a buy out with the company he was working for here semi recently. He has been looking for a small buisness to get into and I'm thinking this may be some sort of fate thing. He has had a fascination with sharpening knives since I've known him so this looks like it may be right up his alley. So I gave him a shout earlier and he really wants to look into it. This may in fact be a perfect situation for him… Cough!... Cough!... AND ME!... Cough!... Cough!....lol

So here I am asking my fellow Lumber Jocks for recommendations on a good sharpening system. I have seen a few online, but I honestly don't know anything about them. I did see a system that did blades and router bits. I thought that would be a nice little extra perk… But like I said… I'm ignorant in this category.

Thanks for any info…

My father-in-law took the Foley-Belsaw course and built a very successful sharpening business in MI (since sold the business and is fully retired). I think the course taught him a lot about sharpening and also the science behind hook angle, etc. He grew to building blades for cabinet shops, metal cutting, etc.

I have a Foley Belsaw sharpening system that is unused, never unpacked. Purchased for sharpening woodworking equipment. Also fairly complete Shopsmith woodworking system with bandsaw and planer and manuals. If you are still looking, or know of anyone, I need help. Inheireted and I already have enough equipment. Any ideas are welcome.

I have a complete saw sharpening system from Foley-Belsaw. Unfortunately, there is not much of a market for it unless you are in the vicinity of businesses that need blade sharpening. If you go into a sharpening business, your customers will be industrial users and a few amateur woodworkers. Building contractors generally use cheap throwaway blades, so there is no market there. I had a contractor bring me a stack of 60 steel blades for sharpening. Not one of them was worth sharpening. When it comes to equipment, the only tools you need is a carbide sharpening machine, a carbide re-tipping fixture, a blade polisher. No one uses steel blades anymore. Handsaws also are long gone. Chain saws in a lumbering area. Many cabinet shops do their own sharpening.
