I have the plans and I was wondering pitfalls. Things to watch out for. Is it really difficult? Basically can I do this? I bought the 14 inch bandsaw plans. i have access to either a 1.5 or 2 hp motor. Thanks in advance. Before craigslist is suggested for a used bandsaw, that isn't going to happen. But I have access to wood and the motor so I figure I would give it a go.
It is a large undertaking, (especially if, like me, you don't have as many clamps as you'd like.) I've got the frame built, but not cleaned up, and now have to move mid project, and get my shop set up at the new place. Needless to say, the saw may be on hold for a bit. I definitely know what you mean about a cheap craigslist saw being not an option. My one piece of advice from my experience so far: check your full size frame layout printout with a ruler to make sure it's actually to scale. Wound up having to recut a few pieces because my default printer settings were not set correctly.
The motor is the expensive part. I'd say go for it, you've got the wood, the motor and the need the worst that could happen is you'd learn a whole lot and have some interesting firewood, but you could also learn a whole lot and have one sweet bandsaw that you built yourself!
I have the plans also but Im thinkin about a 18in saw something a little bigger that I can run 1inch blades on, Im thinkin it will take me a year to do this project, bein I work in automotive don't never have time to do anything maybe this year will be different
