I have run 1/8”x3/4” maple through my planer (DeWalt 735, it goes to 1/8”), it bounced on the tail end and sniped, but the rest came through okay. I have also had bad luck trying to run other thin stock through, so your mileage definitely will vary.

For holding it down to a sled: Exterior double-sided carpet tape is your best friend. That stuff finds a gazillion uses in the shop.
