Its very odd but it seems that Triton designed the 2 1/4 router more for table use than they did the 3 1/4. I have the 2 1/4 Triton and in the table its awesome. Here’s why: It comes standard with a hand crank that you can slip through a hole in the top of the table and you can adjust the bit height through its full range from above the table. You can also do one wrench bit changes from above the table. This is not just because of the included crank but the design that makes it possible. Now get this… the 3 1/4, the one that is obviously designed for table use, CAN NOT DO THAT STUFF! It completely nuts… I know. Why Triton would leave these features out of the 3 1/4 hp router is completely beyond and reason I can comprehend. If your only going to have one router get the 2 1/4 hp.
