I paid $550 for my DJ-20. There are just too many times you will want to joint a 6.5” board. My best looking lumber is usually 6-8” wide. Once in a while I get 12” wide stock, but it is usually flatsawn and has big cracks down the middle. In that case I don’t mind ripping it with a bandsaw to make two usable boards. I had a 6” jointer for a couple years, and it worked. However, I think an 8” jointer hits a sweet spot of value and real world performance. FYI I sold my 6” Jet for the same price I paid for it.
