1/4” ply for the end panels and veneer for the face. This is fairly easy and will make a huge difference in the look. Hardware will also make a big difference. For the doors, you can either strip and refinish them or replace them. Some of the older cabinets have odd size doors so be ready tomake some or pay extra.
