WAAAY back, the guys that did automotive body work would actually use lead as a body filler on dents and cracks in repairing auto bodies. They’d melt the lead and while pouring it into the spot to be repaired, they would work it (spreading and smoothing) with heated irons of various shapes. This looks like it MIGHT have been something similar to a smoothing tool.

The screwdriver end may have been used to poke the molten lead into cracks and such.
