Somewhat new user here, and I don't want to sound like too big of a Facebook user, but there's a ton of projects I see that I like, but don't feel like putting a one word post onto or have the time to write something. Thought it would be neat if there was a like button or some kind of quick click way of saying neat project etc. It could be labeled as lumberjack approved or something, I dunno, just throwing it out there… Love the site
I see your point but I think people who post projects like to read comments. I think if we has a like button fewer people would post a real comment. In this context the like button would be for the lazy.
We have chatted about it and the philosophy behind NOT adding the like button is that we want to maintain the "social" interactions in the community. It is so easy to just click the like. Hopefully comments posted will add to the learning, sharing, and showcasing on the site.
1+ I still like real comments from people. If you don't have the time to write one up, just click the favorite button. This will also save your favorites to a file, so you can access them later.
I guess I fall under the lazy category I guess the view counter at least tells them 'x' amount of people bothered to look at the project. Makes sense what msdebbie said though too.
I agree with the above posters in favor of NOT changing the current format.
It's hard to learn anything by counting the number of "likes". Whereas comments can be very enlightening.
