Cherry… I am most definitely sure cherry.. okay a little doubt.. BUT

That last board with the figuring is called “Fire Grain” it is places where the cells and fibers actually twist around each other in opposing directions… if they were larger in size they would be called “Blotches”.. which to me… since this is my favorite wood.. is us an insult.

I made a wand out of fire grain cherry. I also have it in small bits in my house.. I have been slowly remodeling my condo all in American Black Cherry… built-ins and all the trim fixings… I know this wood very well is all its colors, textures, and figuring. When I get home to tonight I will snap some pictures of my favorite boards.. which I put in prominent locations.. one is a trim piece when you walk into our bedroom.. the other great piece I used as the top rail of my Dining room wainscoting. When you walk by it.. the light hits the figuring and it shimmers and undulates like water.. beautiful stuff. I want that board!!!
