I’ve got a Trend T4 that I’m a big fan of. Unlike most compact routers, it does a pretty decent job of dust collection. It’s not in the league with Festool, but it’s not bad as far as hand-held routing goes. Definitely much better than my Dewalt 618 that I just leave under the table.

In a not-too-long-ago issue of Woodworker’s Journal, they did a review of a bunch of compact routers (they didn’t include either of the routers you mentioned though). They liked the Trend but it was edged out by the Bosch PR20EVSPK and the Dewalt DWP611PK because those two have both a plunge and fixed base (the Trend only includes the plunge base). I never thought it was a big loss since the plunge base can lock anyway.

Both the Dewalt and Bosch are about double what you’re looking at with the Ridgid and C’man, but the Trend is usually around $80.

Oh, one other thing; the Trend also includes an 8mm collet. You don’t run into it too often (I use it for my Rockler Dovetail jig) but it’s nice to have.
