1yeldud1, can certainly be a problem.
As a hobbyist who does his own auto work, mr fixit work, and woodwork, all in a two-car garage, cross-contamination is always a concern, and requires extra precautions when switching genre’s.
I’ve yet to ruin a finish with oil….but I do have a lot of automotive stuff (and everything else) covered in sawdust.

BTW every once in a while I hook an electric leaf blower up and blow out the shop (full respirator of course).
Amazing what blows out from behind nooks and crannies.
