I have two stationary cabinet shop type planers and a ridgid planer. My Ridgid planer is about three years old, and has performed remarkably. They are used as you would assume with the cabinet shop planers doing all the work in the shop and the ridgid taking a lot of road trips and does a lot of final fit, make to order parts. It does get abused. I also have the dewalt. I personally prefer the Rigid due to the excellent finish it has provided.
