Yeah, the guy who put in the floor (the homebuilder) tried to make things look nice and didn’t. Our home inspector at the time commented that it looked like Stevie Wonder did the finish work. He used really cheap materials where he could. That said, the layout, structure, size, etc. was perfect for us so my wife and I are slowly redoing the finish work to our own tastes (wainscoting, crown, etc.). Slow process but rewarding. Right now we’re looking at putting in a reclaimed hardwood floor (wife wants 1 1/2” or 2 1/4” maple in the 1920’s style, but I’m pushing for Douglas Fir). What the current floor is doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things since it was put in wrong anyhow (There are gaps in weird places and the guy put the cabinetry in before the floor). I’m mostly just curious. -- There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |
