JET BANDSAW

Hi folks,

I posted this question in Karson's blog about the Baltimore Woodworking Show, but thought this would be a better place for the question:

I also went out to the Baltimore show today. It was a last minute decision and I hooked up with my Dad. We had a great time. I had never been to a show before and was amazed by how busy it seemed. I've been looking at bandsaws online for a while and viewed a few that were there. The Ridgid seemed to vibrate a lot when the Ridgid guy demonstrated it, which reminded of some reviews that I read here on LJ. Now for my question - The Cayce Co booth is selling a JET 710115K for $585 plus a $50 rebate. From what I can tell, this is a great deal. Am I crazy if I don't go back tomorrow and buy one? I had been considering a Grizzly Ultimate, but with shipping it comes out to about the same price, but the JET has a better warranty, is probably a better machine, and is close to a dealer in case I have problems. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

John

Amazon has this Jet for $750 with free shipping, so this seems like a really good deal.

You never know about what to buy. But this Jet comes with good reviews and I don't think you will be too disapointed. You can also get a riser kit for it someday it you want to re-saw tall boards for veneers.

Factory blades usually suck. Not sure about what Jet is including these days. You might want to stop by the bandsaw blade booth and see what they have to offer.

Sorry I did not meet you at the show,
Steve

Cayce is a great company to work with. I bought a Powermatic Bandsaw from them at the show two years ago. Had problems with the fence and they made sure it was resoved. I didn't notice at the show, but they are a Rockler partner and carry all Rockler stock at their store in Cockeysville.

I called Cayce this morning and they lowered the price even more for the final day of the show ($549.00). With the JET rebate, it comes out to $500.00, so I went ahead and bought one and also got the universal mobile base. I didn't spend much time there, but it looked like they have a nice showroom (in Cockeysville, MD).
