Not sure will finds a Jet 1442 for less than $1.500 unless on sale. A few places sold them without stand for $1,100 couple of years ago. American reeves drives more reliable than Asian.
Have you looked Rikon’s 1642 lathe requires 220V electric service. Essentially same as Jet 1642, except headstock does swivel.

If do not mind staying with 12” swing lathe Delta & Jet mini lathes with EVS might be the ticket. Can always add a bed extension later on.
Not sure about payment plans think can find something that works for you.
