Well, HD charges by linear feet. The cost varies depending the width of the boards and you’re paying extra at HD because they’ve already ripped the boards to usable dimensions. Remember, they’re selling to average consumers who might need oak for a project, not woodworkers who can easily dimension their own lumber. Personally, it seems like comparing apples to oranges.
