Hi Fade. Its steamed flame beech, not birch. The mill steams this while kiln drying. It is american beech. After steaming , it is a light red color, almost like cherry. Very heavy, much more grain and has curl figure like curly cherry or flame birch. Kind of a half moon shape figure.

This is flame beech with an antique cherry dye.
