Beautiful work so far!

I’m guessing from the pic you posted the table is about 16 to 18 inches square. If that’s the case and you’re going to use 3/16” plugs 2 diagonally at each corner would look right. If you went to 5/16” or larger only one at each corner. Smaller than 3/16” and you would need to use three in diagonal or four in a square at each corner.These would all be in keeping with the style.

But I think it would also look fine without any on the top!
