I have a CMT. Had it for years. Works fine.

I bought some CMT boring machine bits from
http://routerbitworld.com and the prices and
(esp.) shipping were reasonable.

You’ll see if you look around that some of the
larger diameter bits from some makers have
less steel in the business end, being machined
from narrower pieces of stock with larger
(if any) flat sections on the sides.

I own bits by CMT, Jesada, Freud, Lee Valley,
Whiteside, MLCS and other lesser known
import and domestic brands. I started
buying them when 1/2” shank bits were
hard to find and only CMT had a good
selection. They all work fine, but the
attention to detail in the European ones
seems the best.
