Greg, I don’t know what a “finger box” is but I can give you an outline for making a box.

Prepare the material and cut the finger joints and assemble the four sides, glued and squared up.

With a rabbeting bit, rout rabbets for the top and bottom.

Square the rabbets or round over the corners of the top and bottom

Glue them in.

Cut the box open on the table saw, four passes.

Note: For the latter process, I like to set the saw blade height so it doesn’t quite cut through. That way the box stays together through the TS process. Then I handsaw it open.

I hope this gets you started. One warning: It’s a lot of fun.
