Funny Kiefer, thanks for the laugh! On a more serious note I recently read a chilling fictitious account based on solid facts and other actual occurrences of a guy who was driving in really cold weather and got stuck in a snow drift. his destination was about 5 miles further on and being in good physical condition he decided to ski the rest of the way. After a series of oft repeated mishaps he was almost dead when they found him the next morning. I guess staying in the car is the best idea after all.

Almost every year some of our cross country skiers get caught in blizzards or just get lost and die, many within sight of a cabin after the air clears and the sun is up. Every year many school classes take a winter trip and they learn how to dig a snow shelter where they can overnight to protect themselves from a storm plus map reading and compass use.
