Looks like maple, soft maple, probably silver maple but could be red maple. The other option is basswood. Are there any twigs or branches? If the twigs are arranged opposite each other on the stem, then it is certainly maple. Basswood would be alternately arranged. Also, basswood has a big fat bud that is equilateral in that it sits off to the side of the leaf scar. If you have some twigs and can take a photo, I am certain that we can identify it.
