Thanks for asking this question Bert. I have been shaking my HF OEM bag for the past three years, HOWEVER, I have just ordered one of the 35A filters from Wynn. Of the 3-types of 35A filters, I chose to purchase the “Spun Bond” media because of its 380 PSI burst strength wet or dry. Sure it is 1-micron vs 0.5-micron, but it beats the heck out of the 5-micron OEM bag. The folks at Wynn Env. also indicated a couple of things I was not aware of:
  • The Spun Bond will clean easier with compressed air—fewer pleats and larger filter holes.
  • Wynn now recommends NO washing of any filter media—folks just can’t or won’t take the time to adequately “clean” AND adequately dry the filter before re-use. A wet filter plus dust = mud. And that then becomes a permanent un-removable blockage.

My new Wynn filter has yet to arrive, so I have no personal experience regarding what the Wynn folks shared. Once I get my hands on the filter and use for a while, I’ll be better able to confirm or deny the above information ;-)
