Chucks have a life. A machinist once told me that they would change every chuck in the shop, once a year.

Are there other issues with the tool that could be addressed? A drill press is a pretty simple piece of machinery, and generally not a source of frustration. I bet the collective wisdom of LJ could help you turn it into a sweetheart tool, with very little expenditure.
