Try caulk backer rod…Inexpensive and is easy to use for many sealing tasks around the house. Comes in many sizes and compresses a lotto fit many applications. Tape and other things are sticky and hard to remove. https://www.dap.com/product_details.aspx?BrandID=4&SubcatID=1
