The router lifts from Woodpeckers Sidewinder, MLCS's PowerLift and U-Turn, and even Jessem's new router table with integrated lift allow adjustment from the side of the table or otherwise. .
Can these router lifts be used to do a plunge cut rather than placing the work on the rotating bit? Can they be used to advance the depth without stopping the router?
Sure you can do it. The process is slower than topside
plunging so burning can be an issue. You need to hold
the work down when plunging so you'll have one
hand on the depth wheel and the other on the
work, so it requires a bit of coordination.
To whom it may concern
I am looking for Woodpeckers' Side Winder Router Lift or Pro Lift side Crank SW350,SW420.
Do you have any information about this kind of products?
I look forward to hearing from everyone.
Thank you all,
My opinion would be not to do it. You want to have 2 hands, both eyes and your full attention on your stock while passing it over a spinning piece of amputating metal. Plus you'd have to bend over thus putting your face even closer to the bit.
But, to each his/her own. Just my 2 cents worth.
