Here’s your options:
- Smaller gun with current compressor.
This is what I use now and I’ll be switching to a turbine system for a few reasons I’ll detail below. The main reason is that it’s not the greatest for bigger projects.
- Bigger compressor.
A good option if you have the power to run a bigger compressor. Nicer ones can get pretty pricey though.
-Turbine HVLP system.
Like I said, I’m switching to one of these for the convenience it offers over a compressor. With a good 3 or 4 stage turbine you’ll be able to spray most finishes including latex paint (thinned appropriately). If you’ll be spraying a lot of latex, a 4 stage is better. You won’t have to worry about water filters or hose size either. One more advantage is that turbines are portable for jobsite use.
Paintsprayersplus has the earlex 5500 with an extra needle set and a few other things for $304 shipped. It will do ok for paint with it thinned enough. I’m splurging a bit and a getting a fuji mini mite 4.
