there is no need to start over with anything… SketchUp can get you dimensions.

depending on what you want to accomplish there are several ways to go about it, but to get you started, you can select the “Dimensions” tool (from menu “tools”), then either click on a line in the drawing – in which case it will provide you with it’s length, or click 2 intersections/points in the drawing and it’ll provide you with the distance between them:
