I havent looked at Rikon because it isnt a familiar brand to me. Highland woodworking has the Rikon 1642, 1 1/2 hp on sale for $1599.00, I thinking I was 2 hp.
I just now look and see that Highland Woodworking has the 3520B on sale for $3399.99….that just might have just tipped the scales for me. Every where I read when choosing between the Jet 1642 and 3520B, they say go with the 3520.
