Charlie, I don’t think there is any hard and fast answer right now to the problem. First alerts like Bob gave and passed to LJ techs seem to be the only current option.
I don’t think LJs wants to invade people’s privacy and make it imposing to become a member, and I don’t think a vetting time between application and granted membership would fly either. This is a dilemma that many other site operators face too. More attention should be aimed at companies operating servers where these scammers use for their fraudulent schemes, more policing should take place at the vehicle source to reduce this fraudulent practice.
