The end vise is a nice addition, and if your plan calls for the vise the full width of the bench, two screws will be needed, The Veritas is a very well made vise and I highly recommend, but there are others for less $$$.

A good resource for bench info can be found at http://www.workbenchdesign.net , take a peek at the benches link. The site has some good information on benches categorized by the type of work a bench is suited to.
