Because it drives the work with feed rollers like a planer,
I have doubts as to whether the w-1200 would do a
good job on end grain.

I have one of these machines myself. It’s very well built
but it’s really a planer fitted out to sand. On the plus,
it’s overpowered and has a nice variable speed feed
motor.
