I have had a 46-460 for three years now. It is a great machine. You are going to love it. I also have a Rikon mini…it is not the machine that the Delta is, but was cheaper too.

Turning is very addictive. Get yourself some basic turning DVD’s and watch them over and over again. Using some of the tools CORRECTLY has a learning curve. There are many body mechanics and positioning relavant to turning. Aside from a mentor who had a better mentor, I don’t know how else to learn. I had a fellow show me some things but he was self taught too and used many tools “wrong” himself.

For the 46-460 I bought the extension and the stand with the extension. I have it on wheels and it was a little tall, so some height modifications were required.

Mike—-I talked the LOML into the lathe with dreams of pens, bowls, and pepper grinders…it worked great!!!
