I wonder if I was taught to say Papa and Mama when I was a wee baby, or if those were the words my parents and older brothers taught me. It’s interesting teaching our granddaughter new things. She’s just babbling now, trying out her own voice, but soon she’ll be talking away, and we have to teach her to stop. She is practicing her labial sounds (b’s, m’s and p’s) so she’ll be saying Mama (and hopefully Pepere and Memere) soon. I appreciate your observations—thanks for your thoughtful contribution here.
