Brian, there are lots of good resources out there, trying to nail all of them down on here is pretty hard, so I will point out a couple.

- Itunes has several woodworking podcasts, both video and audio. Every one I watch or subscribe to is free.

- Youtube has many, many videos on woodworking. There is so much on there, you will need to really define your searches to find what you want.

- Lots of tool vendors also sell video series from many different sources which are useful. For example, check out Lie-Nielsen’s site and you will see a bunch of them. Amazon also has a pretty extensive library of woodworking videos. If you have a Woodcraft or Rockler nearby, they sell some in the stores also.

Lastly, while videos are an invaluable tool for learning and growth, if I had to choose between reading books and watching videos on beginning woodworking, I would take the books any day, every day. Videos just cannot provide the level of detail required for quality instruction that a book can. I have many books on woodworking and several videos. While I find the books’ instruction and education level very high, I find the videos are a lot less so. To me, the videos are more entertaining than they are educational. There is another thing to consider when comparing books to videos: cost. Videos are pretty expensive, especially when considering the information contained in the video. A one hour video covering dovetails will not even come close to the information contained in a book about dovetails. And the book can be had for much less money.

There are lots of video resources out there to meet what you are looking for. There are also many, many books out there for the same. Lots and lots to learn from. Pick your poison, learn, and have some fun.

Good Luck!

-- Mike
