Thanks guys I guess I didn’t loose my mind.

He said is was “getting to the size of a mantle’’ so thats why the price was high.

I don’t recall seeing to many 2” thick mantels around. Most i have seen are around 4” – 6” and most of them don’t hang two feet off the wall.

It just gets me that someone who you have done business with many times over the last couple years, even seeking advice for his new business, tries to pull a fast one on ya. I have a well established woodshop that is wholesale to a specific industry (production shop) and he started a retail “rustic” fruniture & sawmill company about a year ago with no prior experience with wood. The guy does great work, and works hard. But so do a lot of other people I know.

I have been hearing from a couple people that he is trying to sell basic trestle tables at $2k. I never thought nothing of it because most people don’t have a clue what it takes to even think about building something like that. But now I’m thinking they may be on to something here, maybe I’ll try building a table or two and see if I can be competitive for the fun of it :)
