I have the mkii from veritas as well and it works well. I learned to sharpen by hand using Paul sellers method and it works extremely well for me and I have the confidence to do it right pretty much everytine so I don’t use any jigs anymore. I’d be happy to sell you mine if you’d like to get started with the veritas. I think they go for $66 + shipping on lee valley, how’s $50 shipped sound? I also have a combo whetstone I’m looking to sell too. 1000x on one side and. 4000x on the other.
