Charlie is giving very good advice here; and yes the dog may choose to try and eat the crate. Chihuahuas are trash hounds by nature, they survived as a species early on by being good at giving warning while eating whatever they scavenge. My wife’s just under 5lb chihuahua would gnaw on it if she got bored while being in there and it really doesn’t take a lot for one of them to get deathly ill. I have the almost 2 sawstops worth of vet bills, now clearing 4k and I’d settle for the 2300.00 sawstop, over the last 4 years to prove that case; all of them minor issues that lead to dehydration and emergency visits that wouldn’t bother even a slightly larger dog.
