Besseys are good but I prefer Jorgensen because they are made in the USA and actually cost a little less.

It never hurts to have come “C” clamps around the shop as well. I have 4 each of 4” and 6”. For the money, it’s hard to fault Harbor Freight “C” clamps. Their 6” is usually on sale for around $4 or $5 each.

I would recommend at least 4 clamps on something the length of a bench leg.

There is one Bessey clamp I strongly recommend and that is the “C” clamp with a forked end. It gives you three pads , 2 on the forked end and one on the screw. That is really helpful to put in the middle of a glue-up to keep the parts from sliding around. Or you could shoot a brad or two through the boards to keep them aligned.

What ever you do for clamps, you can’t go wrong because you never have too many.
