Same here JoeyG. I don’t think it’s a catalyst for voting, however in my experience, I think it carries A LOT of weight to “Top 3” status. And it should.

1 – You can’t favorite your own stuff
2 – you can’t favorite more than once (you can view or comment more than once)
3 – If someone “Favorited” your project, it deserves to move up the ranks. I have a very small collection of favorites.

Also, I would assume, but would like to know for sure, that comments on your own projects are excluded from metrics. It would be a good experiment to post a piece of wood with the title of “Please ignore this, it’s a top 3 test” in the projects section and see if you single handedly can get it to the top 3.

To add to this, I know people are competitive in nature, and competition is good. It drives quality and better output in a lot of cases. I really don’t care if my projects make it to the top 3. I am proud of them and I want to share them. It does really irk me when “projects” like a collection of pallet wood, or questions about “what kind of wood is this” make it, and something like this masterpiece does not (from my favorites)
