I’m not sure how it is calculated, but I know every project I have had in the top 3 had relatively low views (well under a thousand in each case within 24 hours of posting, I believe my last one was under 400), a moderate amount of comments, and a lot of “favorites”, so there is something more to it than views, but I guess obscenely high view counts can get you there.

I’d like to see the algorithm used and how each criteria is weighted. I am assuming “favorites” carry the most weight.
