One of the best things you can do for spraying latex of any kind is to stir it using a mixer on a drill. This will shear the molecules of the paint so that they spray better.
Floetrol is not a thinner. Floetrol is a latex additive that breaks the surface tension of the paint and allows it to flow out better. Water is the proper thinner for latex.
With HVLP systems that needle is fine. Thin your paint with 10% water, add 2 ozs of Floetrol, stir with a drill.
On the other hand. Latex is never the proper finish for any furniture or cabinetry. Solid color lacquer, from anyone, is a better finish coat.
