I called the guy with the Delta 52-965. He was using a $2300 multi-speed, 1-1/2HP metal cutting bandsaw as a comparison. He didn’t know. It was a Delta and it kinda looked like the one he has. So I told him the 28-400 is more like what he has and it’s $649. I told him the 52-965 sold NEW for about $600 with the 3/4hp motor and closer to $700 with the upgrade to a 1-1/2hp. I also told him a new Grizzly is $425 in that 14” class with 3/4hp motor.

The photo in a CL listing shows the fence rails on the table but no fence. I said, “Look, assuming you can find the fence and that if I come over there and we run the saw it runs fine, no odd vibrations or noises, nothing broken, I think a good deal for ME is about $225-$250. I think a good deal for YOU is more like $300. If you don’t have the fence we’re closer to MY good deal. If you have it and it’s not broken or bent then maybe we’re closer to YOUR good deal. In any event, I have to tell you I can’t go over $300 because that’s all I have. If you want to think about this and talk it over with your mom, you can call me and either tell me I’m off base or we can make arrangements for me to come have a look.”

I’m being honest with him and he sounds like a nice guy trying to sell off some of his dad’s stuff to help out his mom. We’ll see where it goes. I think I’m being fair. I need the saw, but not bad enough to try to cheat someone out of it. He had some guy come over and offer him $100 for it. I also think if he insists on $400 he’s going to end up with nothing for his mom ‘cause I don’t think it will sell at that price. Not in this area anyways.

stay tuned. :)
